The Palestinian Consultative Commission for the Development of Non-Governmental Institutions is an independent, non-governmental, civil institution that aims to develop and empower Palestinian society towards promoting democracy, social justice, sustainable development, and respect for human rights and the law. The Authority provides its services without any discrimination based on religion, gender or race. The Commission acts as a gathering platform for NGOs in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and its membership includes many grassroots NGOs that work in several humanitarian, social and development fields. The commission was established in May 2005 after signing memoranda of understanding with member NGOs with the aim of enhancing cooperation and networking between various civil society organizations. Since then, the authority has developed into one of the leading institutions, which acts as a main link and frame of reference for coordination between NGOs at the local, regional and international levels.
